For some, finding ways to make your life a little happier can make all the difference. Here are a few popular culture tips and tricks to increase your well-being and make the process a little easier to achieve:
Practice positive body language – smile, dance, laugh, do what you would normally do when you are happy. Smiling and laughing leads to reduced stress and anxiety levels, and sometimes smiling even when you are sad can help improve your mood, even a little.
Surround yourself with positive, good company. Eliminating negativity and creating a positive community to immerse yourself in serves as one of the largest factors in happiness.
Seek help when dealing with stress and anxiety caused by stress. Stress can lead to health problems, both physical and mental, so it is always best to find ways to manage it as soon as you can. Counseling and therapy, or even some good social support, can go a long way in helping you manage it.
Unclutter your home and get some exercise. Take the time to organize all of your stuff and unclutter your house as if you are uncluttering your mind. A clean living space can help clear your mind, and promote peace and contentment.
Never stop learning. Keep nourishing your mind with new, interesting information that will stimulate your brain and improve memory and cognition. Keeping your mind active is a good way to help your body keep up with the daily stresses of life.
Work your hardest to achieve your dreams – even if they seem out of reach; keep doing things you love.
Embrace your inner child, have a laugh, and have fun.
Help others and give back.
But, know that it is okay to be upset with your situation – you are going through so much in life and it is okay to feel how you feel about it.
Meditate, be mindful, and take some time to live in the moment.

If you have some time, take a look at some of the science behind happiness with Dan Gilbert. Happiness is also subjective and variable. What we think will make us happy and what actually makes us happy sometimes don’t align. Dan Gilbert has a spectacular take on this idea of “happiness:”
Matt Killingsworth, however, has another idea about what makes us happy: living in the moment.
